Dear BakeSpace Community,
As we mark 17 incredible years of BakeSpace, I am filled with immense gratitude for each and every one of you who has been part of this remarkable journey. What started as a simple yet ambitious idea in 2006 —to create the first food-themed social network—has blossomed into a vibrant, passionate community that continues to inspire and innovate.
Reflecting on our journey, we've achieved milestones that have redefined the culinary landscape. From the inception of connecting community through sharing recipe to earning 17 prestigious Webby Awards, we've celebrated our successes together. Today, we boast nearly 100,000 recipes crafted by our dedicated members and over 6,000 cookbooks born from the creativity and expertise within our community.
The year 2010 marked the launch of TECHmunch, our pioneering food blogger conference. It's been an absolute joy to connect and learn from the incredible minds shaping the food blogging landscape across the United States. That year we also took a major leap into events with the launch of Cupcake Camp LA. Over 50 bakers united to raise funds for three wonderful charities. This act of kindness laid the foundation for our commitment to giving back.
In 2012, we unveiled Cookbook Cafe—an innovative platform serving as a DIY cookbook publisher, marketplace, and reader. This milestone not only empowered creators but also nurtured a space where culinary enthusiasts could explore, share, and cherish their love for cooking.
Fast forward to 2023, and our events evolved into three BakeCamp gatherings. Over 150 cookie bakers combined their talents to bake over 30,000 cookies, all in support of Paw Works, one of our cherished animal charities. This heartwarming display of community spirit reaffirmed our commitment to making a positive impact, one cookie at a time. Three puppies were adopted at our events.
Looking ahead to 2024, I am thrilled to announce the launch of new tools that will elevate our culinary experience. While we want to surprise you with the news -- I can share one item we have planned. Our upcoming monthly cookbook club will be a testament to our community's creativity as we come together to craft a new community cookbook each month. Additionally, through our shop site, we aim to keep you updated, share our latest kitchen discoveries, and celebrate the thriving food community we've built together. But just wait -- we're about to completely change how you find, make and share recipes forever.
